1.0 is out

Valheim left Early Access on 9 September 2026. The launch patch is the Deep North biome plus a pile of quality-of-life work, a Unity engine upgrade, and same-day PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 releases. Steam Windows, Mac, and Linux and the Xbox One / Series versions updated in place. Existing owners paid nothing extra. New copies list at $29.99. Full crossplay and the 1–10 player cap remain.

Read the full breakdown on the Valheim 1.0 Deep North patch page. That article is the featured notes doc for launch week: 40+ weapons, four armor sets, two capes, two trinkets, 10+ creatures, 80+ build pieces, 20+ foods, upgradeable pockets at Haldor, 53 achievements, draw-distance settings, a hammer menu overhaul, Magica cloth, Ashlands spawn rebalance, and every hair and beard unlocked from character creation.

This Updates Hub is the index. When Iron Gate posts a hotfix, it should get its own file under updates/ and a link from here. Until then, treat 1.0 as the current baseline and official news as the source of truth (valheim.com, Steam, Discord).

What “post-EA” actually means

Leaving Early Access does not mean the servers go dark. Iron Gate has said bugfixes and quality-of-life work continue. Extra content after Deep North is to be determined — there is no public calendar for a ninth Forsaken or a new continent. Do not plan a clan timetable around rumors of “Valheim 1.1 next month.” Watch the official site, @Valheimgame, and the links hub instead of leaked Discord screenshots.

Mods will lag a 1.0 engine bump. If your dedicated box was a BepInEx museum on 0.220, expect a quiet week while authors rebuild. Vanilla worlds load without those plugins. The 1.0 FAQ is explicit: there is no official mod support, and Hammer-style creative tools count as a temporary cheat for achievements.

World generation still only paints new biome logic on unexplored terrain. A Meadows you already walked in 2021 will not sprout Deep North glaciers. Iron Gate recommends a new world if you want the intended 1.0 layout. Characters can move; your bronze mace does not care which seed it sits on. Details and the “should I wipe?” call live on the 1.0 page.

How to use patch notes on this wiki

After you read launch notes, update your habits:

Hotfixes that only touch crashes will be short entries. Balance passes that move Bonemass blunt values or Ashlands spawn rates belong in the tier lists the same day we notice them.

If you are here because Google said “Valheim codes,” that is the console commands hub, not a patch. If you are here because a friend said the game is still Early Access, they are a day behind: 1.0 launched 9 September 2026, and this hub exists to keep the calendar honest.

Build menus, draw distance, and Magica cloth are easy to miss in abbreviated notes and they change how a longhouse looks on mid-range hardware. Skim those sections even if you will not enter the Deep North this month. Ashlands spawn rebalance hits anyone who still farms Charred. Pockets from Haldor change inventory math for every sailor, not only endgame miners.

Check Steam’s news tab and the in-game version string before you assume a friend is “on 1.0.” Mixed-version crossplay fails loudly. A 4.3 GiB download on a console can still be running after your PC crew already summoned Kall Fimbulbringer.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

When did Valheim 1.0 release?

9 September 2026, with the Deep North biome. Early Access began 2 February 2021. Full notes: Valheim 1.0.

Will Iron Gate keep patching after 1.0?

Yes — bugfixes and QoL continue. More biomes or bosses are not scheduled in public. Watch valheim.com rather than rumor threads.

Do I have to buy 1.0 if I owned Early Access?

No. The client updates in place. The new store price is $29.99 for people who did not already own it.

Where are PlayStation 5 and Switch 2 in this?

Both launched with 1.0 on 9 September 2026, in the full crossplay set. Join-code steps are on the players hub.

Should I start a new world after the patch?

Recommended if you want Deep North generated as intended. Old worlds get new content only in unexplored areas. See the 1.0 page.
